Weekly Peace Meditation Practice

We have learned scientifically that meditation has the following effects on our physiology:

  • lowered heart rate
  • lowered blood pressure
  • reduction of stress hormones
  • improved output of melatonin
  • increased lymphatic circulation
  • enhanced release of endorphins
  • increased immune system function
       

    In a nutshell, meditation is indeed healing. We can use it to heal ourselves, and we can also use it to heal our planet. When we meditate together, the results increase exponentially.

    With that in mind, our peace cell has reserved Sundays from 7:00 - 7:30 pm (In your own time zone) as a time of meditation. Please join us, anytime during this period, in our efforts to evoke a state of peace of mind throughout the world.

       
  • Start by sitting, back straight, in a comfortable position. You may sit in a chair, or on the floor, with back support if you would like. Close your eyes and take three slow, deep breaths.
       
  • Put your attention on your heart. See the heart filled with and surrounded by a beautiful golden light. Feel the warmth, the love, and the peace, that this light emits. Take three slow, deep breaths.
       
  • See the light grow and expand to fill your whole body. Feel your body relax, know that you are completely at peace. Take three slow, deep breaths.
       
  • See the light grow and expand to fill the room. You are bathed in this beautiful golden light. The light grows and expands to fill the whole building. Take three slow, deep breaths.
       
  • See the light grow and expand to your neighborhood and community. Know that this peace touches everyone within the light. There is a sense of calm, and purpose, within everyone and everything. Take three slow, deep breaths.
       
  • See the light grow and expand to the entire city. In this moment in time everyone and everything within the light is peaceful and calm. Take three slow, deep breaths.
       
  • See the light grow and expand to envelope the entire state. In this moment in time everyone and everything within the light is peaceful and calm. Take three slow, deep, breaths.
       
  • Now see the light grow and expand to embrace the whole country. In this moment in time everyone and everything within the light is peaceful and calm. Take three slow, deep, breaths.
       
  • -Now see that the light has grown and expanded to include the whole planet. The world is at peace. The world is filled with life and with love, and it glows with delight. In this moment in time everyone and everything within the light is peaceful and calm. Take three slow, deep, breaths.
       
  • Know that we are all connected. Know that we are all one. This one planet is at peace. All minds are at peace. All bodies are at peace. All nature is at peace. In this moment in time everyone and everything within the light is peaceful and calm. Take three slow, deep, breaths.
       
  • Take time to give gratitude for this feeling of peace, calm and wholeness. This is our true nature. This is our natural state of being. Know that you can call on this feeling at any time. Take three slow, deep breaths.
       
  • Return your attention to your heart. Know that this golden light burns bright at all times. Know that the love and peace expressed from each one of us impacts those around us, and the entire planet. Feel peace, love, and gratitude. Take three slow, deep breaths.
       
  • When you are ready, get centered back in your body. Start to move your fingers and toes. Fold your hands together in the prayer position, and bow your head. As you lift your head, slowly open your eyes. Sit quietly for a few moments before going back into activity.
